Peace Lutheran's ministry began Feb 19, 1979. Thirty families were interested and so it began.
First services were held at a small Free Lutheran structure in Burlington in August 1979. Pastor Orlando Hash was our first Pastor.
We soon outgrew this building and soon moved to the elementary school. On April 20, 1980 we were officially organized with 44 families. Pastor Tom Sahl was called and began on September 7,1980. Pastor Karen Grandahl was installed on July 14, 1985.
In September, 1981, land was purchased from the Burlington Township cemetery in return for perpetual upkeep. We purchased the Fron church, which was closed, and moved to Burlington. The main church was remodeled and a fellowship hall was added, all done by volunteers. Our first worship service in the remodeled church was November 7,1982 with 165 people attending. Pastor Sam Radoman joined us as Pastor. We then added on to the south during the leadership of Pastor Dale Pepelnjak. Pastor Kristen Tvedt was after Pastor Dale. Then Pastor Norm Paskowsky. Currently we are under the rebuilding leadership of Pastor Emily Nesdahl.
As you can see, our building has grown considerably since then. The biggest addition to the north. In 2011, we received water damage in the basement due to the flooding of the Souris & Des Lacs rivers. The decision was made to build above ground an addition for classrooms, food pantry, family room. The basement is now used for storage. This big project was accomplished by the hiring of the Mission Builders. They not only built the building but built up our spirits. What a blessing to have them share with us.
